Understanding of nature

Experience and preserve

At Orumbo, hunting is based on a deep understanding of nature. With respect for the animal and active wildlife management, we maintain a tradition in our private hunting reserve that focuses on mindfulness and sustainable hunting.

Ethical values are part of our identity. They make hunting on our grounds a responsible way to balance wildlife populations. Our clear wildlife management protects resources and is carried out in fair harmony with nature.

The Reservoir

White Nossob Orumbo

The hunting area around Orumbo covers several thousand hectares and comprises open bush and grassland with natural wildlife populations. The variety of open savannah, acacia trees, hills, and dry riverbeds creates a diverse terrain that is ideal for stalking.

With us, every hunting guest receives individual 1:1 or 1:2 support from our professional hunters. They know the terrain, animal behavior, and stalking trails, and their careful approach ensures that every hunting situation is handled responsibly, safely, and authentically.

Big Five - Little Five

The terms “Big Five” and “Little Five” originally come from the world of safaris and remain symbolic to this day. The Big Five refers to the five African animals that were once considered the most dangerous and challenging game species for big game hunters: the lion, elephant, rhino, buffalo, and leopard. They are impressive, powerful, and now protected in many places.

The “Little Five” are their counterparts. These are small animals that reflect their larger namesakes in name, but are just as fascinating in their behavior, adaptation, and camouflage. They include the elephant shrew, the buffalo weaver, the rhinoceros beetle, the ant lion, and the leopard tortoise. If you walk openly through the landscape, you will discover traces of wildlife everywhere – sometimes large, sometimes tiny. And often the greatest experience lies in the smallest moment.

The best time for hunting

The best time for stalking is the dry season from May to October. During these months, the vegetation is sparser, visibility is better, and the animals tend to congregate around waterholes. Oryx, kudu, springbok, and warthogs are particularly easy to observe and hunt responsibly at this time of year.

During the rainy season from November to April, hunting is theoretically possible but more challenging. The game spreads out more, the vegetation becomes denser, and unpredictable weather makes some areas difficult to access. During this time, we recommend hunting primarily for experienced hunters with clearly defined target species.

All hunting at Orumbo is carried out exclusively within the framework of officially approved quotas and under strict control. What may be hunted is determined annually, and each hunting guest is informed in detail.
