In the district
of the animal world
A game drive is one of the most impressive ways to experience Namibian nature. And at Orumbo, it starts right outside the front door – in the heart of a vast, open landscape that at first glance appears quiet and empty. But once you climb into one of our off-road vehicles and set off with a local guide, you quickly realize that everything here is in motion.
Our game drives are guided wildlife viewing trips in deliberately small groups, with plenty of time and no rush. The route takes you over rolling hills, through savannah fields, past waterholes, through thorn bushes, and shady hollows. You will be amazed at every turn. You observe, listen, and learn. And all while you drive.
The wilderness
Experience with respect
When you take part in a game drive, you are not presented with a comprehensive animal catalog, but rather given an honest promise. What we see is wild. This means that every tour is different. Sometimes antelopes appear right at the start. Sometimes it takes a while. Sometimes there is a moment you didn't expect: a glimpse, an encounter, a track.
Our experienced drivers and guides help you to look closely. They explain how the animals behave, where they like to hang out, and what to look out for. Nothing is artificially induced, because respect for nature always comes first. A game drive on Orumbo is a conscious experience of nature. It is a quiet, exciting, peaceful, and impressive experience, which is often what makes it so special.

Animal Kingdom
The most common sightings include oryx antelopes, springboks, kudus, hartebeests, warthogs, and ibexes. With a little luck, you may also spot ostriches, porcupines, jackals, baboons, or the shy little ibex.
The bird life is particularly impressive: from small, iridescent glossy starlings to majestic birds of prey such as the African fish eagle or the kite, a wide variety of species can be found across the savannah. Depending on the season, migratory birds can also be seen using the waterholes of the White Nossob.
Flora and Fauna
The landscape on Orumbo appears vast, open, and perhaps empty at first glance—but upon closer inspection, it reveals its full diversity. Camel thorn trees, thornbushes, drought-tolerant plants, grasses, and succulents grow here, perfectly adapted to the harsh climate.
During the rainy season, the savannah transforms into a soft, green field with flowering plants and buzzing life. In the dry season, however, the landscape thrives on colors and textures: ochre-colored soil, silvery-gray stalks, shadows in the dust.
Our guides not only impart knowledge about animals, but also about the ecological balance behind this seemingly quiet environment. How plants cope with drought, how animals use shade, how everything is connected. If you look closely, you will discover that it is not just a backdrop – it is an ecosystem full of stories.
